Is the oven worth £77 or should I do it myself?

With a weekend and a caustic kit from the supermarket you can get most built-in singles to an acceptable state. What you probably cannot do is the inside of the door glass, which is the first place a clerk looks, and the shelf runners. Plenty of people ring us halfway through. That is fine and the price is the same.

Are the hob and the extractor part of the tenancy clean?

The hob surface and the outside of the extractor are in the tenancy price already. The oven is the add-on, £77 for a single and £110 for a double, because it is a job in its own right with a tank involved. If you want the extractor filters degreased properly, that is £28 on top.

Our oven is ancient. Is there any point?

There is a point, up to a point. It will come out clean, and clean is what the inventory records. It will not come out new, and a deduction for an oven that is genuinely worn out is not one a clean prevents. Where an oven is past cleaning we say so before we start, not after taking the money.

Can you do the oven the day before the rest of it?

We would rather not. Doing it all in one visit means the kitchen floor goes last, after the oven, which is the right order. If the timing really will not work we can split it, but that is a second journey and it gets priced as an oven clean in its own right. Say so when you book.
